Automatic Belt Tensioners must provide constant controlled belt tension through the life of the accessory drive belt. They also need to provide a reliable level of vibration damping to prevent noise and belt slip. Both functions, tension and damping, are combined in one unit and the characteristics are tuned to the application. For example, smooth engines usually require less tension and damping than those with strong torsional vibration, or belt resonance.
We utilize a variety of proven spring systems to provide reliable, continuous belt tension. Our designs can accommodate any conceivable tension requirement, allowance for easy belt installation and eventual belt stretch/wear. Litens-developed proprietary software can quickly calculate the performance requirements.
Litens has developed and patented several special tensioners designs to meet specific customer performance and packaging challenges. Litens experienced design team will work with customers to ensure the optimal performance/ package design characteristics are achieved to meet the increased demands of today's engines.
Litens believes exclusively in mechanical friction damping systems. We offer a large variety of damping systems and actuation/control strategies to suit any requirement. Hydraulic damping systems in accessory drive applications have proven to cause excessive belt tension (pump-up), inconsistent behaviour under varied temperatures, unreliability and higher cost.
Tension and damper systems can be combined to meet all customer requirements. Pulleys are available in steel, plastic, and with single or double row ball bearings. Easy installation, no maintenance, reliable, quiet; part of a total tension control solution.
