 What you will do?

Responsible for advanced CFD thermal simulations and analysis of vehicle Lithium-Ion battery cells cooling, battery module and pack designs, battery thermal management, using 3D and 1D software tools. Actively support the design process of next generation battery systems for battery powered electric vehicles using multi-physics numerical frameworks.

Perform reactive and non-reactive flow CFD and Thermal simulations on complex geometries for solving different physics/engineering problems related to battery cooling and thermal management at the cell, module and pack level and use the analysis to drive the design.

Apply methodologies for multi-scale coupled physics, kinetics, conjugated heat transfer, fluid-structure interaction (FSI), single and two-phase flows for macro and micro-channel structures.

Lead model calibration activities related to CFD models to corroborate and consolidate CAE analysis results. Collaborate with design and test teams to design validation and verification tests based on requirements.

Develop 1D methodologies using smart analysis techniques (AI, ML) for reducing product development times: generate reduced order models for early concept assessment (design exploration), design optimization, and digital twins.

Support the development of new concepts sharing and interacting within a multi-disciplinary team.

Support model development in 1D/3D frameworks for battery system numerical models, co-simulation, sub-system, and vehicle level integration.

Preparation of concise reports with clear recommendations for stakeholders and customers.

Accountable for effective technical project tracking to achieve annual objectives .

Continually evolve core simulation competencies as the state-of-the-art changes and as technology requirements change.

 What you will bring?

Proven experience in applied simulation on complex products.

M.Sc. (or Ph.D.) degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Demonstrated ability to tackle new problems with a strong physics background and ability to come up with novel solutions.

Strong knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques, thermal modelling and numerical methods, Eulerian and Lagrangian, reactive and non-reactive multi-phase flows.

Ability to apply coupled multi-physics techniques to a wide array of problems (FSI, thermal Flow, magnetics etc.), preferred experience with battery systems

Applied knowledge of CAE pre/post-processors and solvers: Ansys Fluent, HyperWorks Acusolve, Hypermesh, Simlab, GT-Suite (1D).

Strong background in engineering thermodynamics and heat transfer fundamentals, with ability to apply engineering judgement to simulations and test data.

Knowledge of innovative statistical methods, machine learning techniques and model order reduction.

Understanding of simulation driven design, collaborative sharing, and demonstrated ability of technical communication at different level (engineers, management)

Experience in flow test design, experimental set ups, and model calibration
