What you will do:
Work with the Purchasing Manager to implement the global commodity strategies on a divisional level for the purchasing of electronic components.
Assist in the development and implementation of the commodity (electronics) strategy in assigned commodities.
Evaluate supplier quotations to obtain the best overall purchase cost.
Manage RFQ’s to the supply base according to the commodity strategy to support programs.
Evaluate supplier cost structure to obtain best overall value on behalf of the Company.
Award purchase orders within the framework of the strategic commodity plan for current business and/or re-sourcing.
Establish supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms for current and/or resourcing business.
Establish supplier credit terms and the completion of credit applications.
Report out market impact on components/materials and key indicators to suppliers’ health regularly at regional level.
Collect and report purchasing related information to global commodity leads, regional purchasing, etc.
Keeping management informed on commercial issues through communication; aids and assists the department with reports, presentations etc.
Utilize a total cost approach to optimizing piece prices for assigned commodities, utilizing bundling, global sourcing, multiple sources/competition, specification changes, process optimization, value analysis/value engineering, logistics, and payment term improvement.
Work with a cross-functional team in support of the assigned commodities, including Program Management, Engineering, Production Control and Logistics, Supplier Quality Development and Quality departments.
Coordinating supplier development, consolidation, and reduction programs.
Leading divisional cost saving initiatives with negotiation, alternate sourcing strategies and qualifying potential suppliers.
Within a given commodity, assure purchasing leveraging is optimized by providing oversight of the consolidated buy for all the Groups.
What you will bring:
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Purchasing within an automotive manufacturing environment.
BSc degree required with emphasis on business and engineering.
Experience in purchasing electronic components in a manufacturing environment. (PCBA, PCB, active & passive electronic components).
Proven skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.
CPM/CPIM certification is an asset.
Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactful plans.
Ability to assign the highest priority to customer satisfaction while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives.
