Join the Litens Purchasing Team as a Senior Production Buyer. The Senior Production Buyer is responsible for the purchasing of production parts and materials, conducting negotiations with regional and global suppliers to obtain the best value for the products purchased. The Senior Production Buyer holder leads the sourcing process for the commodities assigned, in accordance with the policies and commodity strategies established by Litens Global Purchasing.

What will you do?

  • Responsible to lead the quoting process for new production parts or engineering changes in production parts, ensuring that component drawings contain all necessary information to quote (Material specification, finish specification and weight listed in the drawing)
  • Generate RFQ’s to suppliers through Procure Force (Global e-RFQ/sourcing system)
  • Analyze supplier cost break downs and identify cost opportunities.
  • Negotiate piece price and tooling cost with suppliers, including future cost reduction commitments (LTA’s)
  • Identify drawing exceptions requested by suppliers in their quote responses and communicate with engineering for their review and approval.
  • Recommend suppliers to be sourced following Litens Global Purchasing Commodity Strategies and considering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Prepare and present sourcing recommendations at Sourcing Board Meetings (SBM)
  • Issue production parts and tooling purchase orders, as well as subsequent price updates in the system.
  • Actively participate in APQP cross-functional meetings as necessary
  • Evaluate price adjustment requests from suppliers and conduct negotiations to minimize the cost impact for Litens.
  • Execute global negotiations for assigned commodities (if applicable to the role) to leverage Litens purchased volume.
  • Actively seek for savings opportunities, such as technical cost reductions from suppliers and VAVE initiatives.
  • Facilitate the “Supplier Request for Change” process (SRC)
  • Support Material Control escalation process on supplier delivery issues.
  • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives in purchasing processes, systems, and tools.
  • Ensure that a professional conduct and approach is taken in relation to all supplier business relationships.

 

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of engineered component drawings typical of current automotive industry standards.
  • General knowledge of the following manufacturing processes is an asset: forging, machining, aluminium die casting, plastic injection moulding, metal stampings and springs.
  • Analytical, with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Understanding of basic financial principles and internal control.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
  • Minimum 5 years purchasing experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience dealing with suppliers globally (preferably in lead commodity roles) and working with diverse cross-functional teams.
